Over 13 million flowers will be planted this year in Kyiv by the workers of the Kyiv Green Building communal association. This number is a record for the last few years. Petro Panteleev, Deputy Chairman of the KMDA, informed about this during a visit to the KP UZN of the Dnipro district.
"This year, we are significantly increasing the amount of landscaping work in the capital. I have to pay attention to the fact that almost 9 million flowers were planted last year, but now a record 13 million have been prepared thanks to the efforts of green builders. And if last year we repaired 64 parks and squares, then this year we plan to repair 120 green areas," Petro Panteleev noted. .
He also emphasized that a few weeks ago the strategy of "Kyivzelenbud" was presented, in which the main goals are to increase the number of parks and squares, to fill green areas with new infrastructure facilities for the comfort of Kyiv residents, to aim at reducing the cost of their maintenance and to apply new approaches to landscaping . Large-scale seasonal works are now starting - cleaning the city after winter and planting trees and flowers, tidying up yards, etc.
"Greening of the city will continue to be one of our main tasks. The reconstruction and construction of a modern high-tech greenhouse for the cultivation of plants resistant to growth in the metropolis is one of the ways to implement the Development Strategy of the "Kyivzelenbud" Municipal Corporation for 2017-2021," Petro Panteleev emphasized.
Currently, there are 10 greenhouses with a total area of 1,6 hectares on the balance sheet of communal enterprises for the maintenance of green spaces in the city districts. It is in these greenhouses that flower seedlings and cuttings are grown, which will be planted on the balance territories of the city's communal farms. One of the company's strategic tasks is the gradual transition to the cultivation of perennial flowers in urban flower beds. In 2017, it is planned to plant 700 units of perennial plants, 500 of which will winter in the open ground.
During the inspection, the deputy head of the KMDA inspected one of the greenhouses, which contains about 800 seedlings. Flowers are prepared for the creation of flower gardens and creative landscaping of Kyiv. In particular, almost 8 thousand tulips and 8 thousand crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths were grown here on the eve of March 6.
