On December 8, the premiere of M. Rimsky-Korsakov's one-act opera "Mozart and Salieri" will take place on the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine.
The premiere of the opera "Mozart and Salieri" took place in February 2017 with great success and received many positive reviews from critics and the public. A chamber opera in essence, where only two characters act, or rather even think, it is, nevertheless, intended by the author himself for the big stage. Although Rimsky-Korsakov himself expressed concerns about this and wanted to protect his brainchild from large halls and preserve its chamber format. The director Anatolii Solovyanenko, together with the chief artist of the theater Maria Levitska, managed to solve this difficult task of preserving the intimacy, even the intimacy of the action and, at the same time, the spectacle of the performance. The created scenographic solution of the performance gave an opportunity to plunge into the inner world of two recognized "sons of harmony", which Mozart and Salieri undoubtedly were.
Two bright soloists - Valentyn Dytyuk (Mozart) and Taras Shtonda (Salieri) played an important role in the deep perception of the theater's new repertory work. It was on them, in fact, that the new production was performed.
"Mozart's part was not only a new role for me - there are no traditional arias in this opera, and that was a certain difficulty. The entire plot is built on a dialogue between two performers, and this is connected with additional emotions. The role of Mozart is very multifaceted and requires great depth and sensuality," said Valentyn Dytyuk.
For Taras Shtonda, the part of Salieri turned out to be very symbolic: with this role, he celebrated both the 25th anniversary of his creative activity and the 50th anniversary. In addition, the wonderful bass of the Ukrainian artist is often compared to Chaliapin's, and as you know, it was Fedor Chaliapin who was the constant performer of the role of Salieri until his emigration.
