By the end of this year, all buildings under the control of the city government will be equipped with metering devices. At the same time, the city government is starting a program to install systems to protect metering devices against theft and damage. Petro Panteleev, Deputy Chairman of the KMDA, stated this during a press briefing on the passage of the heating season.

He reminded that due to the blocked accounts of Kyivenergo PJSC, the company's investment program could not be implemented, which threatened to disrupt the meter installation program. The city authorities were forced to undertake the completion of the installation of meters.
"About 2500 heat meters will be installed in residential buildings in Kyiv by the end of this year. This will make it possible to equip 100% of the houses served by communal ZHEKs.

In some houses, it is technically impossible to install metering devices, in particular, due to the insufficient area of basements and the need to develop individual project solutions. Therefore, for such buildings, the Mechanism for recalculating the cost of the centralized heating service depending on the outside air temperature will be applied (approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 1037 of October 30, 2015, note),” said Petro Panteleev.

He also emphasized that a program to install systems to protect accounting equipment against damage and theft will be in effect for Kyiv residents.

"Over the past two years, 407 meters have been stolen. Since the beginning of this year, 220 meters have been stolen. That's why we suggest installing security alarm systems in elevators and heating stations. People need to convene a house meeting and make a relevant decision by the majority of the residents' votes. Next, you need to contact the city Department of Housing and Communal Infrastructure. The subscription fee per month will amount to a few hryvnias, but the building will be under the guaranteed protection of the state security police," said Petro Panteleev.
