On November 2, "Double Lover" is released, an erotic thriller by François Ozon about the romance between a psychotherapist and his patient.
According to the plot, a young French woman turns to a psychotherapist for help. Passion flares up between the heroes, but the new lover has his own secrets. The film received an 18+ rating.
The world premiere of the film took place within the main competition program of the 70th Cannes Film Festival.
The main role in the film was played by Marin Vacht, who had previously starred in Ozon: their first joint work was the melodrama "Young and Beautiful". "Four years ago, when I was just dreaming about the project, Marin was still too young for this role. But by the time I got back to The Double Lover, she had a baby and was a young woman. And we were both interested in working together again." Ozon recalls. The role of psychotherapist Paul was played by Jeremy Rainier, a regular actor of the Dardenne brothers ("Boy with a bicycle", "Saint Laurent. Style is me").
François Ozon is one of the leading French directors of our time, a two-time nominee for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and a winner of the Berlinale and San Sebastian awards. "Double Lover" is the author's return to the erotic thriller genre, which brought him wide popularity thanks to the films "Criminal Lovers" and "Pool".
The film is based on the story "The Life of Twins" by the American writer Joyce Carol Oates. According to Ozon, he changed the plot, but kept the author's favorite themes: neurosis, sex and the dark side of the split personality.
"Double Lover" will be released in Ukrainian cinemas on November 2. The day before, a pre-premiere screening will be held at the capital's "Oscar" cinema (Gulliver shopping center). Sponsors of the event are TM Finlandia and TM Jack Daniel's.
