Active work on the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing does not stop even in winter. After the dismantling of the upper part of the temporary supports that held the arch (rusty structures that everyone remembers well), a new important stage is on its way. Installation of tension cables, which will ensure the reliability of maintaining the bridge structures, designed for road traffic and the metro line. The mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko wrote about this on his Facebook page. He also released a video about how the completion of the bridge is in progress.

"They are manufactured in the German city of Gelsenkirchen at the factory of the Bridon-Bekaert company - a world-renowned company that produces all types of industrial steel cables," noted Vitaliy Klitschko. - I was at the plant and we agreed on their purchase in the spring of last year. By the beginning of April this year, the German company must deliver 68 giant cables. Kyiv has already received the first batch. And experts are starting preparatory work to start installing these suspensions from May. Next, the lower part of the temporary supports will be completely dismantled and the bridge will "stand" in its place," wrote the mayor of the capital.

He also emphasized that work on the construction of other sections of the bridge crossing is ongoing. Thus, the flyover on the Rybalsky Peninsula was almost completed, the left turn exit on Naberezhno-Rybalska Street, the flyovers on Trukhanovo Island and in the Horbachiha tract, and the bridge over the Desenka River were built. Work is underway on the construction of the entrance to the bridge crossing from Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska Street in the area of Verkhniy and Nizhny Vala streets, as well as the section of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge crossing from the Rusanivske Sady dam to the new overpass across the railway on the left bank. The construction of the overpass itself continues on the section from Tsentralnaya Sadova Street to the intersection with the railway.

"We are doing everything to open a road connection through Podilsko-Voskresensky at the end of this year. And start active work on the construction of the subway. I would like to note: Podilsko-Voskresensky is the largest arched bridge in Europe. It will be equipped with 6 lanes for road transport and 2 railway tracks for the future subway (on the lower level), and a pipeline will also be laid," Vitaliy Klychko stressed.

The design capacity of the new bridge crossing will be up to 60 cars per day. This will significantly relieve other transport arteries of the city. The daily intensity of traffic on five bridges over the Dnipro in the capital is more than 300 cars. And in peak times, the carrying capacity of the bridges exceeds almost 3 times.

The Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge has been under construction since 2003. And the documents regarding its construction plans date back to 1979. The length of the bridge crossing is more than 10 kilometers.

Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that the city is fully financing this project. At the beginning of this year, the total amount allocated for the completion of the Podilsko-Voskresen bridge is almost 7 billion hryvnias. About 3 billion are planned to be allocated in 2020.
