In the struggle for safety on the streets of the city, the capital followed the most optimal path and is actively working on the creation of the municipal police. This was stated by the Chief of Staff of the KMDA Volodymyr Bondarenko on the TV channel "Kyiv".

"Now we already have the public formation "Municipal Guard", endowed with certain powers to maintain public order on the streets. The city is also creating a municipal security company that will provide security, for example, in communal facilities such as schools, kindergartens, hospitals. Despite the expected opposition from other security companies, the city is confidently moving towards its goal and, thus, we will soon have two main components of the future municipal police," said Volodymyr Bondarenko.

The head of the office of the KMDA noted that the municipal police function in many countries of the world.

"Its structure, organization and functionality are quite the same - maintenance of public order on the streets and assistance to the national police. The municipal police does not conduct its own investigations, it does not have investigative units, instead, the municipal formation patrols the streets and maintains law and order," he added.

Volodymyr Bondarenko emphasized that last year's statistics show that 49% of criminal offenses are actually thefts. Most of these statistics are street crimes. Therefore, there is no time to discuss, it is necessary to actively work to eliminate the disorder on the streets of the city.
