The petition on combating noisy traffic has received the required number of votes.
Residents of the capital seek to improve the quality of life and call on the authorities to fight more actively against violators of traffic rules who create excessive noise.
As it became known, a petition to the Kyiv City Council with a request to strengthen control over the level of noise from vehicles successfully passed the threshold of the required number of votes. The authors of the petition note that despite the ban on the movement of vehicles with loud exhaust, which was introduced last year, many drivers continue to ignore this rule.
"Last year, the Kyiv City Council banned loud exhausts, but unfortunately, this ban is not always followed. This problem is felt especially acutely in residential quarters," the text of the petition emphasizes.
The authors of the petition also recall the draft law registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for fines for violating the rules regarding the level of noise from vehicles. However, since this law has not yet been adopted, Kyiv residents are asking the city authorities to take additional measures to solve this problem.
"We hope that the Kyiv authorities will hear our voice and take the necessary measures to make our city quieter and more comfortable to live in," the authors of the petition emphasize.
