Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klychko held a diplomatic reception at the city hall on the occasion of the upcoming holidays - New Year and Christmas.

"On the eve of the New Year, we traditionally gather with you in this hall - in the walls of the Kyiv City Hall, to sum up the results and outline plans for the coming year. 2019 was difficult for both the country and the capital. Presidential and Verkhovna Rada elections. The new government. But Kyiv continued to transform and change. Our city is developing, becoming more beautiful and comfortable. And even more attractive for tourists," said Vitaliy Klitschko.

He noted that this year the capital authorities implemented, in particular, large tourism projects. A pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting Volodymyrska Hill and Khreschaty Park was built in record time. Today, this bridge is one of the most beautiful and popular locations in the capital.

A new Alley of Artists was also created. They built stairs to it from St. Andrew's Church. These objects made it possible to implement the project of a large tourist route through the historic center of the city - from Landscape Alley to the Arch of Friendship of Peoples. The landscape alley is planned to be reconstructed next year.

"We continue the reconstruction of the parks. Construction of new schools and kindergartens. The other day we will open another virtually newly built kindergarten in the Darnytskyi district. We repair hospitals, purchase modern medical equipment. We clean the city from advertising. After all, sometimes you can't see how beautiful the historical center of the city is behind these advertising structures," the mayor noted.

He reminded that the fight against unauthorized kiosks and chaotic trade continues in the capital. Major repairs of the capital's roads were also continued, and modern public transport was purchased. Many modern electronic services have been introduced that make life easier for the people of Kyiv.

"There is still a lot to do! But a lot has been done! We actually completed the construction of the Shulyavsky overpass. They activated the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresensky bridge. And by the end of next year, we plan to launch a road connection through this bridge. The next stage is the construction of the metro to Troeshchyna! And this task is a challenge for me, which I am determined to overcome. We started the construction of two metro stations on Vynogradar. We install modern lighting on roads, bridges, and parks. All these are effective steps that change our city," he emphasized.

Vitaliy Klitschko thanked representatives of the diplomatic corps, religious denominations, people's deputies, representatives of the capital's authorities for their help and support, for their faith in Kyiv and its prospects. And for their contribution to the changes taking place in the capital.

"We appreciate your participation in many projects. We value every foreign investor. And I am convinced that our cooperation will continue to be effective and successful. As the mayor of the capital, I am always open to your ideas and suggestions," said Vitaliy Klitschko.

According to the mayor, today the main dream of every Ukrainian is for peace to reign on Ukrainian land, for Ukraine to defend its independence and territorial integrity. It became a strong and successful state. But he noted that in this matter the Ukrainian authorities also count on the support and assistance of the international community. After all, it is important for the entire world community and compliance with international legal norms.

"Many challenges are facing the world today. And overcoming many of them depends on diplomacy. From how professional and successful it will be to solve problems peacefully. I want to wish you - the representatives of the diplomatic corps - strength and patience, persuasiveness and success in the efforts you make in your work," Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized.

He wished the representatives of the diplomatic corps and everyone present on the eve of bright and joyful holidays - Christmas and New Year - health, love, strength, inspiration and fulfillment of cherished dreams.

Every year we see that Kyiv is developing, implementing projects that give impetus to positive changes. This is, for example, Kyiv Smart City. We see how roads are being repaired, how bicycle infrastructure is appearing, new bridges are being built. And it is very important that new kindergartens and schools appear in the city", said the Montenegrin Ambassador and wished Ukrainians a happy New Year, full of peace, joy and prosperity.
