The Kyiv Metro has introduced surcharges for large luggage. What items are subject to a fee, how much will you have to pay, and what is prohibited from being transported.
If your belongings fall under these criteria, you will have to pay for each item. another ticket (8 UAH)You can carry a maximum of two such items.

Long objects: length from 150 сm until 220 сm.

Bulk bags/boxes: the sum of the three dimensions (height + width + length) exceeds 120 сm.

Rolls: diameter from 10 сm and length from 100 сm.
Cost of travel with luggage:
You + 1 large bag = 16 UAH
You + 2 large bags = 24 UAH
What is now strictly prohibited
If the item is too large, you will not be allowed on the subway, even for money. This applies to items that:

Have a sum of measurements of more than 200 сm.

They have a length of more than 220 сm.

Available in rolls with a diameter of over 15 сm or longer than 170 сm.

There are large open containers or cages.
Special rules for wheels and sports
There are format restrictions for certain categories of items:

Bicycles and sports equipment: if they are larger than 120 cm (by sum of measurements), they are allowed to be transported only in disassembled or covered form.

Carts: Large items on carts are only allowed if they are in the “wheeled bag” format. Construction wheelbarrows or utility platforms are prohibited.
Why is this important?
Introducing a baggage fee is not only an attempt by the metro to make money, but also a way to unload the cars. In the conditions of 2026, when the metro is the main shelter and the most reliable transport, extra centimeters of luggage during rush hour become a matter of safety and speed of evacuation.
Advice: If you plan to transport cornices, linoleum, or a large suitcase, keep your Kyiv Citizen Card or mobile app ready to quickly pay for additional "places" for your cargo.
