Kyiv is actively preparing for winter and possible unforeseen situations. One of the important steps is to update information about residents of the capital who may need additional assistance. In particular, the city's social services are checking the actual place of residence of Kyiv residents with limited mobility.
Who needs help?
These include single elderly people, people with disabilities, and families raising children with disabilities. The updated information will allow city services to quickly contact people if necessary, find out their needs, and organize assistance, or even temporary relocation.
Planned preparation, not anxiety
Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration for the Exercise of Local Government Powers Marina Honda emphasized that this is a planned work that was carried out last year, and this year it is being improved. She noted that updating the data does not mean evacuation or forecasting a specific emergency situation.
"Last winter, we saw one important problem: some people from low-mobility groups actually live at a different address from their official registration. Therefore, in the event of an emergency, data on the registered place of residence alone is not enough. Now we want to check and update this information so that, if necessary, city services understand where a person is actually located and what kind of help they need," said Marina Honda.
Who should you contact?
If you are already under social support and have provided up-to-date data, you do not need to apply again. However, if you belong to the specified categories but are not on social services, or are not sure whether the city has up-to-date information about your actual place of residence, you should contact the relevant department of social and veteran policy in your district.
