Today, the Kyiv City Council passed a decision obliging the investor on Postova Square to make changes to the investment agreement and to include in the project the construction of premises for the museum. 95 deputies voted for the adoption of the relevant decision, with the minimum required of 61.

"We all understand the historical and cultural significance of the Post Square area, as well as the discovered findings. This is our story with you. I am glad that we have finally moved away from political battles and blanket pulling. Today, everyone demonstrated that we have one, common goal - the restoration and completion of excavations, the conservation of finds and the creation of a museum. Thanks to the position of the mayor, thanks to consolidated actions, we are confidently moving forward, and the result of this work will be the museum space on Postova Street. Further step-by-step actions have already been determined, including: holding a meeting with the involvement of representatives of the initiative group from the public to agree on a new technical solution and road map for the implementation of the project, granting permission by the Ministry of Culture to archaeologists to carry out archaeological research, carrying out monitoring by archaeologists," said the deputy head of the KMDA Valentin Mondryivskyi.

In addition, he reported that, according to the mayor's instructions, the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection is preparing an appeal to the Ministry of Culture regarding the possibility of using the facilities of the "Khortytsia" reserve for the conservation of wooden archaeological finds until the Kyiv Center for the Conservation of Archeology Objects is established.

Also, among other things, comments from the public were taken into account regarding the amendment to the contract between the KP "Directorate of Construction of Road and Transport Facilities" and the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences regarding the indication that archaeological research is not only carried out on the construction site, but on the site within archaeological sites of local significance.

"The investor, in turn, must present an alternative project for strengthening Poshtova as soon as possible. After the project is approved by archaeologists and all parties, the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection will be able to remove the prescription for construction works and the investor will strengthen the Post Office, which will give archaeologists the opportunity to complete the excavations," added Valentyn Mondryivskyi.

The Deputy Chairman of the KMDA also noted that the decision includes several other important points. In particular, failure by the investor to comply with the provisions of the updated investment agreement is grounds for unilateral termination of this agreement. In addition, if the investor refuses to make changes to the contract, the city authorities can apply to the court for termination of the contract.

We will remind, in October, at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council, the deputies agreed to make a decision on the termination of the investment contract with the investor on Postova Square as a basis. To give the investor the opportunity to propose changes to the draft decision. Actually, it was about the investor's obligation to create a museum space and include it as one of the clauses in the investment contract.

At that time, the representative of the investor stated that the investor is ready to provide appropriate guarantees and confirm his intentions regarding the creation of the museum and make appropriate changes to the contract.

On June 21, the Kyiv City Council made a decision regarding the preservation of artifacts found during the excavations on Postova Square. The decision, among other things, provides for the creation of a communal institution "Center for the Conservation of Archeology Objects" and the holding of an international architectural competition.

Museum experts, historians, architects and archaeologists have to decide what the museum on Poštova Square will be like.
