1800 hryvnias can be debited from a forgotten account in a year
These are accounts on which no transactions have been made for 12 consecutive months - no replenishment, no payment, no transfer, no withdrawal of funds.
Thus, if the account remains inactive for the entire year, the amount of write-offs can reach 1800 hryvnias.
Regarding whether debt may arise, Oschadbank clarifies that clients will not be driven into the "minus".
If there is no money in the account, the commission will not create a debt. If there are funds left on the card, they will gradually be debited from the service fee.
The biggest innovation may affect people who have not used old cards for a long time.
For example, after changing jobs, many people have salary accounts that they may simply forget about. A similar situation is possible with old social or pension cards if the account was not officially closed.
At the same time, simply blocking the card or its expiration date does not mean automatic account closure - the commission may continue to be accrued if the account itself remains open.
What are customers advised to do to avoid regular chargebacks:
- check if old card accounts remain open;
- if the card is no longer needed – officially close the bank account;
- If you plan to keep the account, at least periodically perform transactions on it so that it does not become inactive.
