The government is working on a plan to gradually increase the cost of electricity for the population. The reform could start as early as the summer of 2026 and last for several years.

Forecast of increase: what is planned

According to preliminary calculations, a model of planned growth is considered:

  • Pace: +25% every year.

  • Duration: for 4 years.

  • Goal: leveling the economy of the energy market and financing the restoration of infrastructure damaged by attacks.

Why are tariffs planned to be revised?

  1. Cost discrepancy: Current tariffs do not cover the costs of electricity production and delivery.

  2. Shortage of funds: The industry needs resources to modernize networks that operate in critical mode.

  3. Reduction of subsidies: Phased growth will help reduce the energy market's dependence on budget injections.

Social protection and subsidies

To soften the blow to citizens' wallets, the government is preparing accompanying measures:

  • Expansion of the subsidy program for low-income households.

  • Targeted compensations for the most vulnerable categories.

  • Updating criteria receiving assistance for greater accuracy of payments.

Importantly: The final decision on the start date and exact schedules for the increase has not yet been made. Technical calculations and consultations with international partners are currently underway.
