As reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the state has decided to radically reconsider its approach to supporting young people. In the 2026 budget, 6,6 billion hryvnias have already been reserved for the payment of academic and personal scholarships. This is 1,2 billion more than was allocated last year. The money will be used to increase payments by almost half.
New amounts for university students
For those pursuing higher education at universities, academies, and institutes, the financial motivation to study will increase to unprecedented amounts:
Regular academic scholarship: increases from the current 2,000 to 4,000 hryvnias.
Increased scholarship for special academic achievements: increases from 2,910 to 5,820 hryvnias.
Sectoral scholarship (for scarce and priority specialties): will increase from 2,550 to 5,100 hryvnias, and increased sectoral scholarship - from 3,710 to 7,420 hryvnias.
It is worth noting the individual payments for the most talented young people. For example, the scholarship of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will jump from 4,000 to 8,000 hryvnias. The payment from the Verkhovna Rada will increase from 4,400 to 8,800 hryvnias. And the most prestigious - the scholarship of the President of Ukraine - will increase exactly twice: from 10,000 to 20,000 hryvnias per month.
What awaits college students
The changes have not spared students of professional pre-higher education who study at colleges and technical schools. For them, the minimum academic scholarship will increase from 1,510 to 3,020 hryvnias.
Those who finish the sessions with honors will receive 4,394 hryvnias instead of 2,197 hryvnias. Industry scholarships in colleges will also increase: the regular one will be 3,860 hryvnias (it was 1,930 hryvnias), and the increased industry scholarship will be 5,618 hryvnias (it was 2,809 hryvnias).
Named scholarships for students of professional pre-higher education will also increase significantly: the payment from the Verkhovna Rada will be 6,640 hryvnias, and the scholarship of the President of Ukraine will be 15,200 hryvnias per month.
Such steps by the state are not only financial assistance, but also a powerful signal to young people: intelligence, talents, and daily work on oneself are valued and adequately rewarded in Ukraine.
