This is a simple cookie that was made from fresh dough on an egg and whey or buttermilk. The dough for verguns was prepared as a thin cake, cut into rectangles or rhombuses, in which an internal incision was made. Then they twisted the inside of the cut once or twice and fried it in boiling oil until golden. Verguns were prepared by girls at evening parties, housewives for carolers, midwives for grandchildren.
The experience is not new, and KMDA uses the work of its German colleagues in it: there, such initiatives mobilize the local population and help raise problem areas to the city-wide level.
