They plan to install 8 video surveillance cameras on the streets of Kyiv. This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko on the air of the Newsone TV channel.

"Due to hostilities in the East of Ukraine, a large number of unregistered weapons are in the hands of citizens. Realizing that the criminogenic situation in Kyiv has not changed for the better, we have increased funding for the "Safe Capital" program, within the framework of which 4 video surveillance cameras will be installed first, and in total we plan to install 8 cameras, Vitaliy Klychko noted. - All images will be displayed on the central server, which will be located at the KMDA and also at the law enforcement agencies. This system has proven itself quite effectively in Israel. It allows you to recognize faces, and therefore make full identification of people who have committed crimes," the mayor of Kyiv emphasized.

The mayor also noted that most domestic offenses are committed while intoxicated. That is why, on his initiative, the Kyiv City Council decided to limit the sale of alcohol at night.

"This practice of restricting the sale of alcoholic beverages at night exists in the USA, Germany and many European countries," the Kyiv mayor noted.

Commenting on the issue of expanding the powers of Ukrainian policemen, Vitaliy Klitschko noted that this is a necessary step.

"I am convinced that the police should have more rights. Police officers are responsible for ensuring law and order. I was thrown off balance by the situation when in Kyiv a group of young people drove around the city at a speed of 200 km per hour, the policemen chased this car, asked them to stop many times. In the end, one of the boys who was in the car died of injuries, and a policeman was on the dock, although there should be a driver who drove through the city at 200 km per hour and endangered residents, Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized. - In this regard, I consulted with Americans and Germans who work in law enforcement agencies. And they say the police were wrong to use their weapons too late. In the USA, this car would have been stopped by all possible means a long time ago, as it posed a threat to residents," said the mayor of Kyiv.
