Taking into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, appeals from student self-government bodies, and by decision of the leadership of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the Commission for Internal Verification of Information on possible violations of the rights of students and employees, norms of ethical behavior, the procedure for using certain premises and property of the University, as well as other circumstances that require objective establishment, documentary confirmation, and proper assessment, has begun its work.
Today, the first meeting of the Commission took place, which included representatives of the academic community of KNU and student self-government bodies, who have the necessary professional experience, the trust of the university community, and will act on the principles of independence, objectivity, and impartiality.
The work of the Commission will be aimed at a full and comprehensive clarification of the circumstances, verification of available materials, establishment of the sequence of events, analysis of management decisions, official response or lack thereof in the relevant period, as well as preparation of balanced conclusions within the limits of the specified powers.
Particular attention will be paid to documents, materials, official communications, appeals and other information that may be relevant to establishing the circumstances, as well as the role of officials, employees and other persons who held or hold relevant positions, could possess information, have access to documents or influence their preservation.
During the first meeting, the members of the Commission identified the main areas of work, agreed on the procedure for interaction and distributed functional responsibilities. Requests were also prepared for the structural divisions of the University to summarize and provide available materials, appeals, notifications, official documents and other information that may be relevant for the internal audit.
To ensure proper reception, systematization and confidential processing of information, the Commission has created a single communication channel for submitting appeals, notifications, documents, information regarding possible violations of the rights of students, teachers and employees of KNU, circumstances of the use of auditorium No. 105 and other premises of the University, as well as information about events, decisions, actions or inaction of persons that may be related to the subject of the inspection.
The Commission specifically emphasizes that complete, timely and reliable provision of information is a necessary condition for an objective clarification of the circumstances. Failure to provide, conceal, change, destroy or distort documents, materials or information that may be relevant to the verification will be subject to a separate assessment in accordance with the legislation.
Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is interested in a full and impartial investigation of all circumstances, protection of the rights of participants in the educational process, restoration of the trust of the university community, and ensuring an appropriate institutional response in case of confirmation of violations.
