A new municipal non-profit enterprise will appear in the capital — “Energy Security Service”The corresponding decision was supported by 68 deputies of the Kyiv City Council at a plenary session on Tuesday.
How do you create a new service?
The enterprise will be formed by reorganizing an existing municipal institution that previously worked in the water supply sector. It is important that the creation of a new structure does not require additional costs from the city budget.
The main tasks of the service:
The new organization will be responsible for the capital's strategic power reserve and operational support of energy networks. Key functions include:

Generator fleet management: accounting, storage and ensuring the technical readiness of autonomous power sources.

Equipment modernization: Complementing generators with fuel tanks, cables and connection systems.

Mobile deployment: prompt transportation and installation of powerful power sources at facilities left without electricity.

Service: regular technical supervision and operation.
Why is this important?
Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Petro Panteleev explained that the city currently lacks a single logistics center for servicing heavy energy equipment.
“Generators weighing several tons cannot be transported without special logistics. In addition, much of the equipment arrives without proper equipment — without switches or fuel tanks. They must first be put into operation, and then their operation must be monitored,” the official noted.
Thanks to the newly created service, the city will be able to respond more quickly to critical situations in the power system and ensure the vital activity of important facilities during blackouts.
