This is a great initiative that turns waiting time on the platform into a useful health checkup. The project at the Polytechnic Institute station became a real "hit" on social networks in May 2026.

Here's more about how this "vision screening station" works:

️ What exactly is installed at the station?

It's not just one device, but interactive space, covering all 10 two-sided columns on the platform. Each column offers different types of tests:

  • Optical illusions: For example, a blurry picture that, upon close examination, transforms from an animal into an air conditioner helps to understand how the brain processes visual data.

  • Classic tables:

    • Syvtseva and Golovina (with letters and rings) - for adults.

    • Orlova (with pictures) - for children.

  • Special tests: For astigmatism, color blindness and duochrome test (helps determine predisposition to nearsightedness or farsightedness).

  • Eye exercises: Special exercise labels that show how to move your eyes correctly to relieve tension after working with gadgets.

How to use it correctly?

The organizers adapted the tests to the conditions of the subway:

  1. Marking: There are clues on the floor or posters about how far away to stand, which eye to close, and where to look.

  2. Instructions: Each test has a short description of what it checks.

  3. QR codes: If the self-test results alarm you (letters are blurry or colors look unclear), you can scan the code and get advice from ophthalmologists on further actions.

Why is this important right now?

According to statistics from the National Health Insurance Fund, the number of appeals due to vision impairment in Ukraine has increased significantly (over 19 thousand cases were recorded in the first half of 2023 alone). Constant stress, working in poor lighting, and prolonged use of screens have "rejuvenated" eye diseases.

Advice: If you often go to Polytech, set aside 2–3 minutes between trains. Even if it seems to you that you see perfectly, the brain can “compensate” for the shortcomings of one eye at the expense of the other, and such a quick screening will help you notice the problem in time.
