The City Data Processing Center was opened in Kyiv. More than 3700 video surveillance cameras have already been installed in the capital, and another 4 smart cameras, which will be combined into a single city-wide video surveillance complex, will be installed in the capital in the near future.

At the opening of the data center, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko noted that the latest information processing technologies and the implementation of the "Safe City" program will allow creating a comprehensive security system in the capital.

"The development of Kyiv's modern infrastructure is one of our key tasks. A modern city must work technologically. And in this, in particular, we will be helped by a single information and telecommunications platform that uses the latest technologies for processing large data sets and will ensure security in the capital," Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized.

The mayor of the capital noted that the city authorities pay special attention to security issues in Kyiv.

"The complex situation in connection with the aggression against Ukraine, the deterioration of the criminogenic situation require an effective response. And a real step towards creating a security system in Kyiv was the launch of the "Safe City" project. We are creating a city-wide video surveillance system - in two months we managed to install 3423 cameras in schools, kindergartens, polyclinics, hospitals, museums and theaters. Another 339 cameras are installed in the city center and on road bridges across the Dnipro. And a unique camera with a 360-degree view was placed on Independence Square," the mayor said.

Vitaliy Klitschko added that in the near future it is planned to install another 4000 smart cameras in the capital and to combine existing video surveillance systems into a single city-wide complex.

"This will make it possible to fully cover the capital. In particular, we pay attention to safety in public places, at large infrastructure facilities and exits from the metro, - emphasized the mayor of Kyiv. - We also plan to include all video surveillance cameras operating in public and private institutions into a single system. Now there are about 100 of them in Kyiv, and we have to unite them into a single system that will make our city safe," the mayor added.

According to Vitaly Klychko, the functions of smart cameras are very diverse. They have a pre-programmed scenario of incidents and are able to automatically inform the situation center about the danger.

"In particular, thanks to the function of recognizing state signs with the help of cameras, the metropolitan police will be able to find stolen cars more efficiently. Also, such functions allow policemen, rescuers or doctors to help Kyiv residents more quickly," he said.

In addition, in order to effectively collect and analyze information from the entire city, a cloud platform with a total capacity of 11 channels has been created, which will ensure continuous recording of video data.

"Separate fragments of the "Safe City" system have already been deployed in the main offices of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine. In the future, we will also add fire, rescue, medical, road and other communal and state services to this system. And I am convinced that our capital should become one of the safest cities in Europe," concluded Vitaliy Klitschko.
