Since August 10, Kyiv authorities have transferred parking fees to non-cash payments. This will prevent manifestations of corruption in this area, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said on the air of the "Kyiv" channel.
"We are putting order in the field of parking. In order to prevent manifestations of corruption, from August 10 there will be no circulation of cash in parking lots in Kyiv at all," Klitschko said.
At the same time, the mayor emphasized, this does not mean that motorists will not have to pay for parking. He noted that the driver will be able to pay for parking through the parking meter, SMS or buy monthly parking tickets. Vitaliy Klitschko added that monthly tickets for parking in different zones can be purchased at all press sales kiosks and information kiosks, and they will appear there by August 10. "The human factor in the field of parking will be minimized," the Kyiv mayor emphasized.
At the same time, the Kyiv authorities expect the parliament to pass a law on regulating parking. Klitschko reminded that this draft law has been in the Verkhovna Rada for two years, but as of today it has been adopted only in the first reading.
"We hope that it will be adopted as a whole in the fall. And this will enable the city authorities to fine irresponsible drivers who leave their cars anywhere. We will have controllers who will be able to issue fines and evacuate cars together with the police," the mayor of Kyiv emphasized.
Vitaliy Klitschko noted that the capital authorities have set themselves the task of bringing the capital's parking lots to order. He reminded that currently there are almost 3 designated parking spaces in Kyiv, but they are half empty because some motorists do not want to pay for parking and leave their cars wherever they want. "We are moving away from cash settlement. So that the money that people pay for parking goes to the budget for the development of the city, and not to the pockets of individual businessmen. Special inspectors will monitor parking fees," Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized.
The mayor of Kyiv also appealed to drivers to be responsible and pay for parking.
