From 6 am on December 18, entry of vans and trucks to the territory of Kyiv will be restricted due to a blizzard. Thus, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the capital is expected to experience worsening weather conditions: heavy snow, blizzard, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s in the morning and afternoon, and ice on the roads. The formation of a snow cover with a height of 5-10 cm is expected.

Restricting the entry of large vehicles will minimize the occurrence of traffic jams on highways and ensure the movement of snow removal equipment.

Also, the Department of Emergency Situations of the KMDA calls on drivers to be attentive and careful on the highways of the capital and to follow the following recommendations:

  • if possible, use public transport;
  • when approaching pedestrian crossings and locations of children's institutions, reduce speed to a minimum;
  • observe a safe distance and speed of movement;
  • do not forget to turn on the side lights or fog lights;
  • move with extreme caution on bridges and overpasses;
  • try to avoid risky maneuvers;
  • refrain from traveling long distances.

In the conditions of worsening weather conditions, drivers of private cars are advised to refrain from traveling in their own vehicles if possible and to observe parking rules so as not to interfere with the operation of snow removal equipment.

Pedestrians are advised to move on the sidewalks with caution, to cross the road only in designated places, to be careful and cautious. Don't forget, you are also a road user.
